WHAT IS QES ?

INTRODUCTION

Qurtuba, under the Muslim rule in Spain, served as the cradle of modern science and civilization. |In fact, Qurtuba was not only the meeting point of Eastern and Western civilizations, it was — also the meeting point of all three live religions, such as Judaism, Christianity and Islam. As a result of a vigorous cris-crossing of diverse intellectual, religio-moral and scientific traditions, the world could witness the emergence of a Renaissance in the — Western world. The less prejudiced scholarship of the west has acknowledged that modern science and technology owes its birth to inductive method introduced by Islamic civilization (for instance, see Robert Briffault's : Making of Humanity).

It was the most cherished dream of the founders of the Qurtuba Education System to establish a new Qurtuba, here in Khyber | Pakhtunkhwa, so that it may serve as the cradle of yet another — Renaissance, this time around a Renaissance in the Muslim world. The overriding objective of this Renaissance is to rectify. the imbalance caused by the excessively secular leanings of the Western Renaissance. Our objective is to integrate sense and soul-science and _ religion. In fact, we endorse Einstein's. | contention that “Science is lame without religion. It has strong muscles but no mind’. This new Qurtuba has made a modest beginning. Let us 5 pray for a thundering success in the near future!.

HISTORY

March 3, 1981 will be remembered as a memorable day in the history of the Qurtuba Education System, when Prof. Abdul Aziz Khan Niazi; a teacher by design and choice, pooling the entire resources he could have by then, opened a primary school in the vicinity of the historical Islamia College, Peshawar on Jamrud Road., The opening of the school was in fact launching of a movement with meager resources but with firm resolution to equip the youth with skills and Knowledge enabling them to play their key role in the nation-building process On the basis of his rich teaching experience, he knew about the vitality of quality education for the said process. The growth and expansion of this humble beginning into an ever-growing network of schools and colleges culminating in the establishment of a university of national and international standing was the founder's vision and dream.

The founder's devotion and sincere commitment to the cause of education resulted in a sharp success of this humble effort. The school was upgraded from primary to High level in a short span of seven years in 1988. Keeping pace with the growing demand of the society and in response to the community's confidence on the system, Qurtuba College was founded in 1991 in Peshawar. Horizontally, the system expanded southwardly and Qurtuba School & College was established in 1996 in D.I. Khan.

Besides achieving excellence in academics, moral upbringing of the youth occupies central place in the system. Discipline, attendance, punctuality, good conduct and sound behaviour are the values which are not compromised under any circumstances. The teacher's benign treatment of students, student's respects for teachers, on the one hand and teacher-parents liaison on the other are the essential and inherent values of the system. The management, faculty and administrative staff together make a strong cohesive team. The team helps in effectively creating a learning-friendly environment where students are facilitated to attain excellence in their academic pursuits, demonstrate respect for their teachers and the elderly people and to observe the socio-moral and cultural values with the strength of character.

Observing the religio-cultural and social norms, the Qurtuba Education system Quietus maintains separate campuses for girls and boys both in Peshawar and in D.I. Khan. The strength in all the Campuses is increasing day by day, It reveals the community S trust and confidence in the system as it strives for quality. The beautiful and spacious campuses (with accessible location) both in Peshawar and D.I. Khan are the Qurtuba's own property. It puts the management at liberty for further extension and expansion as and when needed.

In recognition of his sincere services to the cause of education, and in acknowledgment of the entrepreneurship of Prof. Abdul Aziz Khan Niazi, who brought the primary school gradually to college level, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa entrusted him with the challenging task of establishing a University in D.I. Khan by issuing the charter in 2001. Since its establishment the University is serving the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa through its two campuses in D.I. Khan and Peshawar. The University offers multiple programs ranging from four years bachelors to post-graduate and M.Phil/Ph.D. Although in its infancy, owing to its performance in first ten year, the University has earned its position amongst top ten universities by the HEC's ranking. Pursuing further the vision and dream, the term of "Qurtuba Education System" was adapted in March, 2007 so that the intending expansion of the network should be supervised in a more systematic and coherent manner for yielding tangible results.
